Robin Knutson Obituary

Robin Ann Knutson was born to Percy and Margie (Kemmer) Thompson on St. Patrick's Day, 1957. Her family lived in Fargo, ND until moving to Rochert, MN, in early 1960, then back to Fargo in 1967 where she met her childhood sweetheart and future husband, Keith Irving Knutson.
One of nine siblings, Robin's sisters remember her as feisty and fun-loving. She did some of the goofiest things, like getting her toe stuck in the bathtub faucet, which required help from the fire department to rescue her foot. She often protected her younger siblings and was never afraid to say what was on her mind. As a girl, she was often seen swimming, fishing, or riding her bicycle.
Keith fondly remembers stealing her bike so twelve-year-old Robin would chase him. Keith and Robin were married on December 14, 1974, and moved from Fargo, ND to Colorado Springs, CO in 1982. Together they raised four sons: Dustin, Kasey, Jess, and Charlie.
Robin spent more time outdoors than indoors, but she was also an amazing cook and homemaker known for cheesy potato casseroles and peppernuts. She was always the life of any gathering, the instigator of excitement, and the party planner. She loved pie! She made the BEST all-American apple pie, and she would eat it for breakfast. On road trips, she stopped at every pie shop along the way.
Nobody was a stranger to Robin. She made friends everywhere she went and could talk to anyone and everyone. She was always more interested in others than in talking about herself, though she was a creative story embellisher, just like her dad. "Somewhat usually true for the most part!" She often stayed in touch with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends by phone when she couldn't be there in person.
Robin was an explorer, ever ready for the next adventure without knowing the destination. She and Keith enjoyed traveling to Niagara Falls, Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, and many road trips across the country. She and her sisters often escaped for sisters' weekends together, where they spent time laughing, dancing, and sitting up all night talking.
As much as she loved to travel, Robin also loved sunshine, swimming, gardening, camping, hiking, dancing, bike riding, gambling (she always won!), and haunted houses. But most of all, Robin loved her husband, sons, and grandkids. According to her sons, she was a hugger and never left the room without saying, "I love you."
Always a yes to life and fun, she would say, "Live, laugh, and love… show 'em how you shine."
Robin passed away on May 10, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Keith, and their four sons: Dustin, Kasey (Ashley), Jess (Tiffany), and Charlie, as well as six of her eight siblings: Barton (Diane), Julian, Pat (Wally) Nyland, Geri (Robert) Fingalson, Jackie (Butch) Wang, Bill (Sheila), Evelyn (Rodney) Knutson. Also, surviving are her grandchildren: Keith, Noah, Cody, Hailey, Tristen, Mason, and Liam. She also leaves behind 69 nieces and nephews: 58 great-nieces and nephews, and 19 great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Margie, and her brother Butch, nieces Cheryl, Jessica, Dana, and nephew Jay.
