Robin Rogers lost her fight with ALS on Dec 29, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO.
She was born Aug 11, 1954 in Wichita, KS to Ivan & Vivian (Davis) Behel. Robin was the youngest of three. When she was five, her mother died & Ivan married Leila "Lee" Betts in 1966.
Robin attended UNC-Greeley where she majored in Phys Ed/Kinesiology & minored in Dance. It was there that she met Steve, also a gymnast. Robin & Steve married after college & moved to Manhattan, KS. Steve was a grad student & Robin taught high school PE & coached track, gymnastics, dance & twirl.
In 1979, they moved to CO & welcomed Miranda in 1981 & Kellina in 1984.
While raising their daughters, Robin worked as an Aerobics Instructor at the Pikes Peak YMCA. Robin was a certified Fitness Specialist & Water Aerobics Instructor. In 1992, Robin began working full time as the Aquatics Director & then Teen & Family Director. In 1996, she became the Assoc Exec Director of the Downtown Y. Two years later, she became the Exec Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. This program grew under her direction until 2005, when she stepped down to care for her father. She started Mission Matters & began consulting non-profits. In 2007, she became Exec Director for the Colo Spgs Police Protective Assoc. Robin retired in 2015 when her illness prevented her from continuing her work.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian (1959); stepmother, Leila (1997); & father, Ivan (2005).
Robin is survived by her husband, Steve Rogers; daughters, Miranda Rogers & Kellina (Ian) Gilbreth; brother, Ivan (Pat) Behel; sister, Kathy (Ron) Swope; sister-in-law, Cathy Rogers; & brother-in-law, Don Rogers. Also dear to her are her nieces & nephews, Becky (Randy) Lawrence, Cindy (Tim) Francis, Wayne (Jaime) Swope, & Wade Swope.
