Rochelle Stasi Obituary

Rochelle Stasi, a long time resident in her mountain home near Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, died tragically in a motorcycle accident in Chaffee County, Colorado, on Saturday June 25, 2016. Rochelle was born on April 13, 1959, in Monticello, Iowa, to Vernon and Odelia Doden, where she grew up and attended high school. Rochelle was number 7 in a loving family of 12 siblings. She has made her home in the Colorado Springs area for the past 31 years and has lived in her beautiful mountain home near Green Mountain Falls since 1998. She has worked for a local company as an interior designer of hotels all over the country for the past 18 years. She loved to spend her free time hiking and running with her sweetheart of 18 years, Don Vsetecka, and her dog Dakota, spending time with her four beautiful daughters and her two grandsons, motorcycle riding, traveling all over the country and the world, and anything involving people and the outdoors. Rochelle's home was always open to family and friends and she made it a favorite and welcome destination for all. Rochelle loved all people and they loved her! Family, friends, brief as well as long term acquaintances, and even strangers she encountered. Anyone and everyone who knew Rochelle, for a long time or only for moments, loved her.

Rochelle devoted her life to her four daughters and her two grandsons who were always first and foremost to her. She raised her daughters wonderfully as a single Mom and sacrificed greatly for them. She was also totally devoted to her long time sweetheart and her many siblings, nephews, nieces, and extended family.

Rochelle is survived byand will be greatly missed by her four daughters, Stephanie (Stasi) Gertge of Boulder, CO, Shannon Stasi (Lyle Keck) of Seattle, WA, Samantha Stasi (Lee Bauknight) of Jackson, WY, and Suzanne Stasi of Fort Collins, CO; her two grandsons, Jordan Gertge and Jack Gertge of Boulder, CO; her mother, Odelia Doden, of Monticello, Iowa; her sweetheart, Don Vsetecka, of Green Mountain Falls, CO; her siblings: Dianne (Todd) Hummel of Buena Vista, CO, Marla Doden of Monticello, Iowa, Cathy (Mike) Kirley of Woodbury, MN, Greg (Cheryle) Doden of Pittsburg, California, Sharon (Robert) Caldwell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patrice (Johnny) Cook of Dubuque, Iowa, Lynette (John) Fisher of Ellsworth, Iowa, Lisa Steiner of Monticello, Iowa, Kim (Joel) Salow of Center Point, Iowa, and Mike (Becki) Doden of Bend, Oregon, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved and tried to claim as her own. She is also loved and missed by Don's children and grandchildren whom she loved and treated like her very own as well: Kirk (Tracy) Vsetecka and "grand children" Johnathon Vsetecka, Abigail Vsetecka, and Ryan Vsetecka, and Kristen (Matt) Baldwin and "grand children" Kailey Baldwin and Casey Baldwin, all of Colorado Springs, CO.

Rochelle was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Doden, and her sister, Debbie Berkebile, her great niece, Rylee Gray, and her grandparents.

Memorial Services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, Iowa, on Saturday July 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. Family may gather for private time from 9:00-10:00 and friends from 10:00-11:00 that morning at the church. Rochelle will then be laid to eternal rest near her father in the Catholic Cemetery in Monticello immediately following the Memorial Service.

There will also then be a Celebration of her Life on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. Family and friends and all are welcome. It will be an informal get-together in the outdoor courtyard at The Pantry restaurant in Green Mountain Falls, right across from the small lake and Gazebo from noon to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established by the family in Rochelle's name. All of your prayers are greatly appreciated!

I am heartbroken for her entire family, her friends and co-workers. She and I talked about hiking together and it did not happen. Taken much too soon.

I loved working with Rochelle...she was such a positive person and always was smiling and encouraging to those around her. I remember her as a loving mom, always putting her girls first. My heart aches for each and everyone of her family, her extended family and the people that she worked with for so many years.
