Hello to everyone who knew and miss Mr. Rodney B. Beckman. I did not know him but I toured his beautiful home during his estate sale and happened to see his name on a military item. I am moved to write this because he represents to me, all that is great about this country and I would want my son's to emulate. They are pursuing an Air Force training program and I would be proud of them to join the "Air Force" Blue of Colonel Rodney B. Beckman. Also as the husband of a Vietnamese American, his service there was important beyond words. I saw his uniform that I'm sure he wore with pride and was moved to tell as many people as I could, that I was privileged to tour the home of a hero. Bless you all.

I saw Rod's death announcement in the magazine of the retired military officers and I am truly sorry to learn about the death of my old friend. I met
Rod in 1955 at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona
when we were both going through pilot training.
We were commissioned and received our wings
August 1, 1955. We shared the same instructor and flew together regularly, becoming good friends. After leaving Williams, we were assigned to Laughlin AFB, Texas, to learn how to use our planes as a weapon. After graduating at Laughlin,
we were both assigned to Luke AFB, Arizona, for
advanced gunnery training. After Luke - wouldn't
you know - we were both assigned to Malmstrom
AFB, Montana, where we became members of a combat-ready squadron, flying F84Fs in February 1956. While there, Rod met and married "Mickey"
a lovely lady. We were there a little over a year when Rod received orders to Japan, and I was sent to Korea. While I was in Korea, Rod borrowed a
T-33 (a jet trainer) and flew from Japan to Korea to
see me. Is that a friend or what?
I am long- time retired now, 87 years old, and I can still vividly recall some adventures and old friends who were part of my life, and Rod will always remain one of my favorites.
My condolences to your family

We were so shocked to hear of Rod's passing and it is with heavy hearts we are writing this. Rod was a wonderful man and will be missed dearly. My mom always looked forward to his phone calls and visits. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
