Roland "Joe" Paul Colvin died at home in Colorado Springs on December 3, 2024 at the age of 82. Joe was born to Roland and Lenore (Jessel) Blumenthal on July 23, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Joe graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1960. He joined Elks Lodge #660 in 1978 and served as an Exalted Ruler and Trustee, becoming an Honorary Life Member. Joe bowled in several leagues and was the Cheyenne City Singles Champion in 1984-85. He loved to play golf and was a member of Airport Golf Club and Prairie View Golf Course. Joe retired from Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power in 2004. His Cheyenne friends knew him as "The Hat" as he always wore one.
In 1990 Joe met his wife Maxine who lived in Colorado Springs. As they were both working, Joe and Maxine drove back and forth between two homes until they retired and Joe moved to Colorado Springs. Maxine and Joe liked to travel as well as play golf and poker. They especially enjoyed their Texas Hold'em friends in both Cheyenne and Colorado Springs.
Joe and Maxine spent 34 years together and lovingly embraced each other's families. Joe is survived by his wife Maxine, son Jim Colvin, daughter Tammy Higgins (Stan), as well as Maxine's daughters Anne Riley and Erin Book (Bob).
Joe will be remembered by grandsons Justin Young (Carrie) and their children Jaelyn and Braedan; Daniel Young (Cana); Jacob, Jeremy and Ben Colvin; granddaughter Angelique Johnson (Steve) and their children Heather and Carl; and great-granddaughter Angelina Young (Daltin). Joe will also be remembered by Maxine's granddaughters Emma and Jessa Book and grandson Robert Book.
Joe's father Roland Blumenthal, mother Lenore Cooper, sister Frances Edwards and grandfather Paul Jessel preceded him in death.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, January 10, 2025 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4210 Austin Bluffs Parkway Colorado Springs, CO.
