Ronald F. DellaCroce of Colorado Springs, CO passed away August 4, 2024 while on hospice at the age of 90. Ron was born in Colorado Springs to Mambrino and Elise DellaCroce, who both emigrated from Italy. He had four sisters and was the only son.
During his formative years, he attended Corpus Christi and St. Mary's Catholic
schools. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was aboard a ship enroute to the Korean War when the armistice agreement was signed. They were diverted to Japan where he hauled fuel to the top of Mount Suribachi. Upon his return to Colorado Springs, he held various jobs. Most notable was working in the garage at The Broadmoor and as a heavy equipment operator for Pinello Construction Company where he worked alongside many family members.
Ron married Marjorie Haney in Colorado Springs. He adopted her two children,
Beverly and Allen, and they had a son, Ronald. They enjoyed many wonderful years together and just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in April.
Ron went to Colorado State University where he earned his undergraduate and master's degrees in Education. A career promotion took them to Emmetsburg, IA
where he worked at Iowa Lakes Community College. He served as administrator and chair of the Industrial Technology Division. Ron could often be found meeting with Iowa Representatives to obtain funding for his programs. While in Emmetsburg, his wife, Marge, served as Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and his son, Ron, attended school from 3rd grade through high school. After his retirement, they relocated back to Colorado Springs where he continued his love of hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Ron leaves behind his wife, Marjorie, daughter Beverly (Wayne) Schmidt, son Allen (Mary) DellaCroce and daughter-in-law Annette DellaCroce. His grandchildren: Jason (Tammie) Schmidt, Sherry (Gary) Jones and Anthony (Tiffany) DellaCroce. His sisters: Christine (Dennis) Gross and Barbara Laney. He also leaves behind greatgrandchildren and many nephews, nieces and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Ron and sisters Sylvia/Tootsie
Pinello and Jo Sikole along with many other family members. Ronald F. DellaCroce was a proud, loyal Marine to his dying day. He exemplified their motto Semper Fidelis meaning "always faithful".
He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs where a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.
