Ronald Ekis Obituary

Ronald E. Ekis, Sr. passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 at St. Francis Health Center. He was born on January 24, 1947 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Elmer L. and Mildred E. (Ricketts) Ekis, Sr. Ronald was married to Chong for 38 years. He was retired U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam War. He was retired from the Colorado Springs Water Department. Ronald moved to Topeka in 2006 where he was employed with the Topeka Women's Correctional Facility. Ronald is survived by his wife, two sons, Ronald Ekis, Jr. and Donald Ekis both of Topeka; three grandchildren, Noah, Makayla, Elijah Ekis all of Topeka; and his siblings, William Allen and Jan Ekis of Kansas City, KS, Kenneth Lee Ekis, Lansing, KS and Francis and Frank Fox of St. Paul, KS. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Elmer Leroy Ekis, Jr., Michael Dean Ekis, Shirley Ann Westhoff and Tammy Jo Ekis. A funeral ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Ronald will lie in state after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 5 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. To leave a special message for the family online, please visit www.PewellGabelTopeka.com.

Ekis Family,

As hard as it may be to smile just remeber the good times we all had with Ron Sr. and you can not keep from smiling!! He was a great man that will be greatly missed.
