Ronald Hessdoerfer Obituary

Hessdoerfer U.S. Navy (Ret.)
Commander Ronald Carl
Hessdoerfer U.S. Navy (Ret.)
December 8, 1949
September 28, 2025

CDR Ronald C. Hessdoerfer weighed anchor for the final time on September 28, 2025, at the age of 75, bound for fair winds and following seas after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Carl and Mildred Hessdoerfer and the younger brother of David, all of whom preceded him in death.
After graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, he received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy through ROTC. During his distinguished 21-year career, he earned a master's degree, received numerous commendations, and served in diverse assignments around the world-including in Belgium-where he had the privilege of meeting several U.S. presidents and foreign dignitaries before retiring as a Commander.
After retiring from the Navy, he continued his lifelong commitment to national defense, serving as a federal civilian in Europe and later as both a contractor and federal employee in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
During his time in Europe, he delighted in exploring historic landmarks and local culture, often collecting beer glasses from the regions he visited with his family. As a gifted musician, he enjoyed listening to and playing his favorite Beatles songs, often accompanied his wife and daughter on piano, and proudly served as the accompanist for his wife's Joyful Noise children's choir for 9 years. His love of aviation was carried on by his son, who fulfilled Ron's lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. He found joy in playing basketball and golf, and took pleasure in watching football, baseball, and other sports. Above all, he treasured his role as "Papa," delighting in every moment spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoLee (Roberts) Hessdoerfer, daughter Rianne; son, Brandon; and grandchildren, Ian and Isabelle. He also leaves extended family and many friends who will miss his humor, warmth, and steady presence.
Ron was laid to rest with full military honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
He will be missed and remembered as a devoted family man and dedicated servant to his country.
