Ronald B. Whitman Feb. 5, 1926 - Oct. 28, 2013 Resident of Benicia, CA Ronald B. Whitman, 87, passed away Sunday at his home in Benicia following a long illness. He was born in Alameda and has lived in Benicia since 1982. Ron is survived by his loving wife Nancy; devoted sons Monty (Allisan) Whitman and Donald Whitman, daughter Shireen (Dave) Tilley; sister Shirley Chamblin; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. One of the last WWII United State Army Air Corp veterans he flew in a B-17 bomber as a "gunne" in the wing and belly gunner positions. He was an interesting and free spirited businessman whose life's interests were as unique and diverse as his personality. He was a Real Estate Broker/Developer for almost 35 years. Ron had a passion for life. He was an avid archer, loved the great outdoors and was at home in the mountains and on the high seas. He made his own yew wood bow and arrows as a young boy with the help of a local archery shop in Oakland. Hobbies were archery, hunting elk with his sons, fishing, exploring and he owned and operated several charter-fishing boats and traveled the waters from coast to coast. Memorial services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, 901 West Second Street with Pastor Eileen Phillips officiating.
