Rosalee Ruth (Behrens) Boswell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on January 30, 2022 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Nebraska on January 4, 1944 to the late Amy (Elliott) and Harvey James Behrens.
Rosie, as everyone knew her, was raised in Colorado Springs and graduated from Palmer High School, Class of 1961.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph (2021) of 58 years. She is survived by her son Mark (Katie) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Beth (Tony) of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren—Joshua (Brandi), Samuel (Erin), Lalla-Rose, Webb (Bailey), Behr (Alaina), and Ruby. Rosie also leaves behind her dear sister Bonnie Kimmel of Sun City, AZ, her brother-in-law Jamie Boswell, and her sister-in-law Julie Boswell, both of Colorado Springs.
Rosie was a bright light in this world. She emitted joy and love to all who knew her. She was a devoted housewife to her family, traveling the world with them as her husband Ralph served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at numerous bases, domestically and abroad.
After her husband Ralph retired from the Air Force and began an almost 20 year career in education, Rosie joined him as a middle school registrar at Hahira Middle School in Hahira, GA. Both Rosie and Ralph loved the school atmosphere and were huge advocates for public education.
Her service will be Saturday, June 18 at 11am at Swan-Law funeral home in downtown Colorado Springs. The burial of her ashes will be at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO, alongside her beloved Ralph.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorial contributions be made to Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, CO.

I have never forgotten the time a number of years ago when Ralph and Rosie showed up at my home in Normal, Illinois for a visit. (Unfortunately my wife Elke was away visiting relatives in Germany.) We spent a wonderful day reliving old memories of times way back before Ralph's father "Duke" went off to serve in Korea and when he came back having been wounded. I also remembered a time even earlier when Ralph was enrolled at the University of NC in Chapel Hill and came to see our family in Wilson, NC. I learned later that Ralph was totally uninterested in studying there, for all he had on his mind was getting back to Colorado to be with his beloved girl friend Rosie!
In more recent years Ralph and Rosie began attending the Boswell-Woodall family reunions on the Pamlico River near Bath, NC and having a wonderful time. And during the last several years when the pandemic interrupted those gatherings, I had numerous enjoyable telephone conversations with Ralph at their home in Colorado Springs where Ralph's upbeat conversations would be punctuated with Rosie's approving comments from the background.
After Ralph's sudden death, and Rosie's discovery of her illness, she really wanted only to go and be with Ralph. I believe they are now united in joy and peace.
