Rose Flanders Obituary

Rose C. Flanders was born in Larned, KS on September 8, 1928. She died in Colorado Springs on May 26, 2012. Rose was laid to rest beside her husband in Larned, KS on June 2, 2012. Rose was the firstborn child of Edward and Rebecca Crist Chlumsky. She was married on November 4, 1947 to Orlan Ray Flanders who died on December 25, 1980. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Jo Ann Pinkston, and brothers John and Harry. She is survived by her brother, Adam of Larned, and sisters Kathleen Cryderman and Edra Stroud both of Salina, KS. Also her children, daughters Susan Flanders of Denver and Deborah Glaeser of Highland Village, TX, and sons Steven Flanders of Nashville, TN and Gordon Flanders of Denver, CO. She is also survived by seven granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Besides being a wife, mother and homemaker she worked for many years as a book keeper and office manager; something she enjoyed so much she never really considered it work. She was also involved in many volunteer activities after the death of her husband. Her greatest hobby and talent was in sewing and quilting. She suffered from multiple handicaps for most of her life and her favorite saying was, "God takes care of me."

Rose was such a loving lady with a great sense of humor. I remember how kind she was to me as a child - inviting me to picnics and introducing me to pizza! She raised a wonderful family and I am thankful we were neighbors. May God bless each of you today and always
