Rose Roach Obituary

Rose Marie (Schumacher) Roach was born in Deadwood, South Dakota to Henry and Marie (Mayer) Schumacher. She was married to George Roach Jr. on May 30, 1980 in Lead, South Dakota. Rose was an accomplished musician but will be remembered best as a member of the Department of Defense contracting community. Rose worked at the USAF Academy both at the Cadet Dining Hall and installation contracting office as well as in the installation contracting offices at Peterson and Schriever Air Force Bases. Prior to her passing, Rose served most recently as a Supervisory Contracting Officer for the TRICARE Management Activity. The journey of life is to move from a self-serving heart to a serving heart. Life is about what you can give rather than what you receive. It is the people you love and the people who love you who matter most. Love is taught to us by so many people in our lives but to give unconditional love to so many is truly a special gift and describes the life Rose led. At Rose's request, no services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, request that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Southeastern Colorado Affiliate, 625 N. Cascade Avenue, Suite 110, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but rather by the number of moments that take your breath away". - Rose

I remember Rose from band, she was a senior and I was a freshman and all of the words of encouragement from her. She was the one person who came to me and told me to keep singing and not to worry about what the other people said.
Rest in peace Rose.

Rose, thank you for being a great friend and mentor. You always had a smile on your face and positive words to say, no matter what. Through your inner strength you inspired so many of us to be better people, to rise above! I am proud to say that I served with you. May you rest in peace.

Rose and I were close friends growing up on Addie St. She was kind and gentle. We had so much fun riding our buzz bikes and sharing our crushes on boys with each other. I am happy she was able to fulfill her musical ambitions. God bless you Rose, and your family.

You were a dear friend from my childhood. All of us neighborhood kids that ran in the Addie St gang. Weren't we something?
You were so sweet, so quiet and took so much from others but still you remained loving and giving. I am happy you had a good life with your husband. You carry that love with you you know. I know heaven has a special angel and I pray for you and your family to remember and know the loving strong beautiful woman you were.
I will never forget you Rose.

I will always remember Rose in band at Lead High School Class of '76. She was an amazing talent and always had a smile on her face. I remember her getting the "Spark Plug" award for her enthusiastic membership in band. She beamed with pride. I am sorry for your loss and hope that you will heal knowing that she is now at peace. She has left us far too soon. I will remember her with fondness.

To Rose's family and friends - I knew Rose as a young girl on into our college years. I remember her being a great musician too. She always struck me as being such a gentle person with a good heart and in reading her obituary I can tell she remained that way throughout her short life. My sympathy to all who knew and loved her.
