Rosie Irene (Newman) Powers Obituary
Rosie was born on June 1st, 1930 in Iola, Kansas to the late William H. Newman and Estella Faye (Coker) Newman. She grew up in Iola and attended the Iola schools. She married Elliott Powers on July 1st, 1948. They had two sons, Ellix Powers and Arlander Lee.
Rosie was an active member of People's United Methodist Church. She contributed to many church organizations over the years and was always kind, compassionate, and graceful.
Rosie loved and cared for her family and had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Ashley and great
granddaughter, Bailey Rose. She will be missed beyond description. She has been called home to heaven but she will always be remembered for her loving and joyful soul.
She is survived by her son, Arlander Lee; granddaughter, Ashley Carlisle (Brandon); great granddaughter, Bailey Rose; sisters, Helen Ambler (Spencer), sister Donna Faye Wright; brother, William Newman; and a host of dear nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday June 30th, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home , 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Sunnyside Christian Church, 2025 N. Murray Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80915, on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Rosie was a cousin of my father, William H. Coker, II who lived in Denver.
Dad and Rosie enjoyed talking to each other on the phone and remembering the good times they had in Iola. She was a sweet person and is missed. The Coker family remembers her fondly.
