Roy McCoy Obituary

McCoy
Roy Lee McCoy
1938 - 2017
Roy Lee McCoy, 79, died in his Colorado Springs home on September 6, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Miami, OK, lived in Texas and also spent many years in Colorado. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1955 and after school did a variety of jobs that included farming and ranching, truck driving, cable layer, and mechanic. His most cherished job was that of Husband, Brother, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa.
This was a job he didn't take lightly as he had 7 children, Mitzi Devoll and Candi Curtis of TX, Joel McCoy and Shawn Valdez of CO, Kristi Valdez of TX, Shelia Stroup and Leann Morey of CO. His blended family produced 21 Grandkids and 30 Great Grandkids. It was easy to figure out what he enjoyed; his family. With them brought many hours of bowling, rodeos, fishing, car races, hockey, 4-H, stock shows, music especially George Strait's and his beloved Denver Broncos. His favorite thing to do was to travel with his wife and best friend Pat for the past 25 years. Together they would explore the world and share many memories of faraway places in which they visited with family and friends. He would tell you, he was not bored as life had so many things to experience.
Roy is survived by his sisters Verna Butler of TN and Lucille Shelton of TX. He is preceded in death by his birth parents, Raymond and Mabel Roberts, his adopted parents, Bob and Alma McCoy, his brother, Lynn McCoy, and his son, Roy Dean McCoy.
Services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017, at 1 pm at The Church on the Ranch located at 3685 Jeannine Drive in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
