Ruby Burgess Obituary

August 6, 1922 - November 2, 2007 Ruby I. Burgess, 85, passed away November 2, 2007 in Colorado Springs. She was born August 6, 1922 in Greencastle, Missouri to Joseph and Laura (Broyles) Daniel, who preceded her in death. Ruby has resided in Colorado Springs since 1944. Ruby is survived by her husband, Alfred H. Burgess; daughter, Joanne (Richard) Jacobson; step-children, Glenda (George) Kirsten; Karen (Stan) Benson; Alfred Burgess II and Jane (Lance) McKnight; grandchildren; Dawn Mehan and John Jacobson; six step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Holly Ellsworth and her first husband, William Barnett. Ruby was an active member of the Pike's Peak Good Sam's Club. She enjoyed dancing and dining at the VFW and was on a bowling league. She also enjoyed crocheting with her Friday sewing group. Ruby loved people, loved to laugh and was always ready to tell a joke. We will miss her love and laughter. Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m., Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4050 Nonchalant Circle, Colorado Springs 80917, followed by burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Village Seven Presbyterian Church.
