Russ passed away at home on July 19, 2024, at the age of 74. A Colorado native, he was born to Robert and Doris Wells of Black Forest, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, with a degree in Political Science. A born entrepreneur, he and his brother, Lynn, founded Wellco Hardwoods in 1976. Their business specialized in high quality and custom hardwood lumber for the local building industry.

In 1989 he married Mary Elizabeth Tile from Suffolk, England. Together Russ and Mary were known in the community for their long-term involvement and service to their churches and the Colorado Springs Rescue Mission.

Russ is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his brothers, Lynn and Phil, his sister, Doreen, his niece, Lindy Hendrich, his nephew, Nathan and his great nephew, Isaac.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 3, 2024, at the Springs Rescue Mission at 11 AM, a reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers please send any contributions in Russ' name to the Springs Rescue Mission, 5 West Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
