Ruth Crawford Obituary

Ruth Crawford slipped away suddenly, but gently on October 3, 2009, in Spokane, WA. Born on August 11, 1923, Ruth grew up in Riverside, IL, the daughter of the village president. Graduating from Grinnell College in 1945, Ruth was a life-long learner. She was a 65 year member of PEO, most recently Chapter CE of Colorado Springs, where Ruth and her husband, Jim, enjoyed retirement years. Ruth leaves a loving legacy of her steadfast Christian faith, unconditional love, and positive attitude in all circumstances. She truly was a friend to all. Preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, James R. Crawford; her parents, Ernst H. and Nerma Wagner; brothers: John Justus, and James H. Wagner; sister, Gail Butler; brother-in-laws: Clarence Welgos, Joe Butler, and Russ Petrick; sister-in-law, Barbara A. Wagner; and infant grandson, Ernst Edward Weber, Ruth will be dearly missed by her children: Andy Weber, Rich Weber, Ruth Ann (Tom) Johnson, and Kris (Albert) Stavola; grandchildren: Jennifer, Catie and Kenneth Weber and their mother, Pam Collins; Eric (Elizabeth), Christopher (Meghan) and Tad Johnson; dear sister, Barbara Welgos and sister-in-law Jean Petrick; and much loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel in Colorado Springs on November 14, 2009, at 3:00 P.M. Interment at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum Rose Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs, 80903 or the charity of your choice.

November 13, 2009

What a precious lady---she radiated the love of the Lord and her peaceful spirit. Even though I haven't seen her in a long time, I remember her with a connection we shared when I first met her in 1993. I appreciate your loss, but God's gain. Mary Craig, PEO Sister.
