Mrs. Ruth George Boles Eastep, 91, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Village Care of King. Ruth was born April 5, 1933, in Stokes County the daughter of the late William Sanders “Will” George and Mary Elizabeth Flippin George. She graduated from Fransico High School in 1951, where Ruth was voted Citizen of the Year and was a member of the basketball team. In 1993 she retired from Sara Lee Graphics as supervisor in the finishing department. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Willie Boles, her parents, her brothers, Lloyd and Julius, her sisters, Clara Rogers and Rachel Martin. Later she married, Burke Eastep, who preceded her in death earlier this year. She is survived by his children, Julie, John, Ken, Kurt and Mike, his stepchildren, Dan Cabeen and Debbie Harrison, numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and her good friend and neighbor, Jean Kiser. Ruth was a member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church in Westfield, NC, where she did a card ministry for many years. She was also assistant Sunday School Teacher for the adult women’s class for a while. Ruth enjoyed Bluegrass Music, WPAQ radio station came on every morning she was able to put her feet on the floor, ACC basketball, NASCAR, and flat footing (dance) as long as she was able. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church, Stoney Ridge Church Rd. Westfield, NC 27053, with Rev. Ricky Rogers and Rev. Jim Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Stoney Ridge Baptist Church.
