Ruth Millar Obituary

Ruth Smith Millar, was born April 26, 1910 to William Matt and Hulda (Johnson) Smith in Avondale, Colorado. Ruth was a stationary buyer at the former Daniels and Fischer Store in Denver. She married Myron W. Millar September 9, 1944 in Racine, Wisconsin. She was a volunteer worker there at St. Luke's Hospital before moving to Bronxville, NY where she volunteered at Lawrence Hospital. When she moved to Colorado Springs in 1973 she was a volunteer for fourteen years at the Fine Arts Center. Ruth was a member of the Broadmoor Community Church and a lifetime associate member of the Avondale Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Myron Millar in May 2004; parents, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include nephews; Arlo (June) Beamon of Avondale, CO; Tom (Joan) Jackson of Denver, CO; Nicholas Smith of Washington, D.C.; Peter Smith of St. Louis, MO; David (Sharon) Smith of Kelowna, B.C., Canada and William (JoAn) Smith of Brighton, CO; brother-in-law, Paul Tiles of MI; niece, Jean (Tom) Patt of MI; nephew, Jim (Mary) Tiles of HI. Longtime friends Lois Lovell, Bob and Kay Spika, all of Colorado Springs will also miss her dearly. At Ruth's request no services will be held. Cremation with inurnment at the Broadmoor Community Church Glen, Colorado Springs is planned.

Ruth was a sweetheart. She will be missed so much at Brighton Gardens. She always thanked us for all we did and loved her coffee.
