RUTH VELASQUEZ

Ruth Velasquez, 83 of Colorado Springs passed away on August 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on December 6, 1934 in Chama, Colorado to the union of Edumenio and Clotilda (Vialpando) Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Velasquez and her daughter, Amy K. Chavez.
Ruth married Joe Velasquez on July 24, 1953 in Colorado Springs and to that union three sons and a daughter were born. She live in Colorado Springs for 67 years.
Ruth worked many years as a Head Start Teacher, volunteered at her church, she loved to cook, sewing but her true passion was spending time with her family.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Gary (Adele) Velasquez, Arnold Velasquez, Joey (Kathie) Velasquez; her grandchildren, Michelle Chavez, Jessica Chavez, Chris Chavez (Sabrina Erickson), Desiree Ross, Desiree Velasquez, Breana Velasquez, Brandon Velasquez; great grandchildren, Jasmine Tafoya, Avery Walker; siblings, Prax Sanchez, Ted Sanchez, Darlene Sanchez and many loving friends.
A Rosary will be held at Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 9:30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Evergreen Cemetery following the Mass. A reception will follow the Burial at Valley Hi Gold Course at 610 Chelton Road.
