Ruth was a dynamic, independent minded , kind lady. I miss her spunky self. My heat felt condolences to Bonnie and her sisters and their families over the loss of their beloved Mother. She had a great sense of humor and a strong drive.

Thank you all for your kind words and memories of Ruth. It's nice to hear about other people's experiences with Mom.
My sisters wanted donations to be sent to the Assistance League of Colorado Springs and the Alzheimer's Foundation. By way of clarification, my Mother did not die from, or have, Alzheimer's.
She was at peace with her end-of-life decisions, and she remained her true self up to the end. She died the way she lived: on her own terms.
I was with her during her process of dying, and I miss her so much every day.
Mother loved her 40 years with the Assistance League.

I was raise by an extended family in Colorado Springs and one of the women who helped raise me Ruth. Those times out at the White House Ranch with the Vrooman extended family are some of my fondest childhood memories. Ruth was a very warm, gracious, funny, and had one of the best laughs on the planet. She was always ready for a good time and many times that was with her Valley family. I am very glad she touched my life and is a part of who I am. She will be missed. God be with her.

from 1984 to 1996 i worked in downtown colorado springs, and was a frequent visitor at the assistance league's 'bargain box' thrift store. mrs. vrooman was a tireless volunteer there and cheerfully served every customer with dignity and respect. she soon discovered where i worked, and a few times she would phone me, at work, and informed me that there were some clothing items, in my large size, and she had taken the liberty to hold them for me. This was a a thrift store. she was a cheerful and diligent member of the community and her legacy of unselfishness and ciyic credentials, will be sadly missed. i hope that someone will take the mantle that ruth initiated and will continue that effort!
respectfully submitted,

Your mother was one of the sweetest ladies I knew. I met her when I was five years old and then was reaquanted as an adult at King Soopers pharmacy where I worked. It was an absolute pleasure to know your mother. She always had a smile on her face. Always remember and treasure the good times.
