Sabine Bilodeau Obituary

April 16, 1959 - Dec. 27, 2008
Sabine M. (Astalos) Bilodeau passed away at her home in Falcon, CO December 27, 2008 leaving the earth to rest in the arms of Jesus, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family when she was enthusiastically welcomed into Heaven. Sabine was born April 16, 1959 in Berlin, Germany to Peter and Ursula Astalos. Surviving are her loving husband Conrad and her beautiful daughter Stephanie Jensen of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters Petra Smith and her husband Steve of Queens Creek, AZ and Cindy Bocharski and husband Robert of Orlando, FL; and a brother Bobby Astalos of Johnson City, TN. Two nieces Kelsey and Haley Bocharski and a nephew Derrick Smith. Sabine was employed with District 49 for 12 years. She began as a substitute teacher, a teacher's assistant, worked in the special education department, and recently as job developer for Falcon High School. She had a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Regents University and a Master's degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Sabine enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved art, decorating, and traveling around the country. She enjoyed spending time at home relaxing and watching movies with Stephanie. She loved to read or go out with friends to a nearby restaurant and socialize. She enjoyed sitting by the fireplace and having a glass of wine with Conrad and talking about life. By far, Sabine will miss all of her friends she met over the years and especially her kids from Falcon High School. A special thank you is extended by Sabine's family to Dr. John Burke and his staff at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. Also, to Mae Dotson (RN), a close family friend, for daily visits which brought a smile to Sabine. There will be no public visitation hours. A service will be performed at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Evergreen's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903-3624.

Sabine Bilodeau or Mrs. Jensen as she was when I first met her as a sub in Falcon Elementery was my favorite substitute and I always made sure to say hello any time I saw her for the 10 years I saw her at Falcon Elementery, Middle and High schools. She will be greatly missed!

To the family of Sabine,

Sabine was a dear friend to me. We used to visit in my health office when she subbed at FES, she also bought AVON from me. I used to admire how beautiful Sabine was, and treasure our visits.

I want you all to know that I am deeply saddened by her passing and I am so sorry I cannot be there on Friday as I will be out of town.

Through tears I pass on my gift to all of you. I make memory bears using the clothing of loved ones. I would like to make a bear for each of Sabines family members. If someone could contact me I would greatly appreciate it.

My sympathy goes to all of you.

Much love, Sheryl
