Sally Ann Peterson Obituary

Sally Ann Masten Peterson, 79, was reunited with the love of her life, George, on the morning of February 28, 2015 at Penrose Hospital.

Sally was born on September 17, 1935 in Plattsburgh, NY to Ralph Masten and Jennie Jones. She and her older brother, Ralph, were raised in Yorkhaven, PA where her father ran the paper mill. After graduating high school, Sally attended Hood College with the aspirations of becoming a nurse. While attending college, she met George, who was currently a midshipman at USNA, on a blind date. Sally and George wed on December 23, 1956. She loved life as an officer's wife as she was able to live all over the United States.

After George's retirement, they settled in Colorado Springs where Sally continued working as a real estate agent. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Garden of the Gods and Penrose Hospital. While volunteering at Penrose, Sally trained her dog, Cassie, to be a therapy dog. Together, they lifted the spirits of not only the patients, but also the staff.

She is survived by her two children: Doug (Thelma) and Judy (John), her four grandchildren: Melissa, Megan, Matthew, and Jason, as well as her two dogs, Cassie and Cheyenne.

She was preceded in death by George and their firstborn son, Brian, who died in 1958. She will join George as they lay at rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

Contributions can be made in Sally's honor to Wounded Warriors, Therapy Dogs International or Penrose Hospital's Wall of Honor.

Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Sunrise United Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
