Sally Moore Obituary

Sally R. Moore, 70, passed away June 17, 2006. She is survived by her mother, Videtta G. Spear of Colorado Springs; two sisters: Mary Lou Swan, and Dorothy M. Reyes (and Alex); three brothers: John W. Spear (and Carolyn), David M. Spear (and Mary), Joseph L. Spear (and Maureen); seven children: Mava Lynn Hochstader (and Puck), Patric R. Matlock (and Chrissie), Sean L. Matlock, Dala J. Michelucci (and Chuck), Conor R. Matlock (and Brenda), Jon T. Robbins, Che S. Robbins (and Cathy); nine grandchildren: Amir'ra Loughren (and Aaron), Vincent Michelucci, Laura Michelucci, J.T. Robbins (and Danielle), Brianna Robbins, Cody Robbins, Logan Robbins, Brooke Robbins, and Austin Robbins; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Robbins. Sally was born on February 4, 1936 in Springfield, MA., to Wendell C. and Videtta G.(Shaver) Spear. She lived in Lima and Wapakoneta, OH., before moving to Colorado Springs with her family in 1948. She attended North Junior High School and Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer) and Pikes Peak Community College, where she received her R. N. degree. Sally worked for many years in California and Colorado as a nurse and administrator, specializing in geriatric care. After retirement, Sally became the caregiver for her mother who is now 94 years old. Sally traveled to and lived in many places around the world including Mexico, Hawaii and Thailand. She was known to her family and friends as a free spirit and very independent thinker. She excelled at crafts such as leatherworking and quilting. She was a nurturing person who gave generously to all who knew her. She loved gardening, and caring for her dogs and cats, but mostly she adored her family. She wrote her memoirs and composed poetry, studied religion and philosophy. She had a thirst for learning and was always open-minded and accepting of new ideas, a fact which made her seem much younger than her years. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2006 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1310 Aeroplaza Drive, Colorado Springs, 80916.

I was so sad to hear about Sally passing away. She was a fun sister-in-law. Some of my favorite memories are when Jon and Che were growing up in Santa Paula and we would take trips to the lakes. We had fun. All her family in Santa Paula will miss here. Our prayers are with the family and friends that Sally left behind.
