Sally Sallee Obituary

Sally R. Sallee (nee Rachac) passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in Albuquerque, NM, after a long illness. Sally is survived by her five children: David Sallee and his wife Bonnie of Clovis, NM; Fred Sallee and his wife Anna of Pearland, TX; Robert Sallee and his wife Susan of Colorado Springs, CO; Katherine Dolle and her husband Robert of Finneytown, OH; and Janet Smith and her husband Graig of Okeana, OH; by her sister-in-law Eileen Sallee of Macomb, IL; and by fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by Eugene Sallee, her loving husband of 66 years; her sister Sam Miller of Indianapolis, IN; her brother James Rachac of Sacramento, CA; and her grandson Christopher Coalson of Carlsbad, NM. Sally was born on June 11, 1920 in Chicago, IL to James and Henrietta Rachac. Sally graduated from Western Illinois State Teachers College [now Western Illinois University] with a degree in home economics, and married her college sweetheart on graduation day, June 6, 1920. She reared her children in Cincinnati, where she and Gene lived during his 30-year career as a chemist for Procter and Gamble. Sally and Gene retired to Albuquerque, NM in 1978, and were active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church. They moved to La Vida Llena Retirement Community in 1983, where Sally served on the “We Careâ€� committee, connecting with other residents to share their joys and sorrows. Sally's particular joy in life was her family, and she was a devoted wife and mother. Her life was a full one, marked by giving of herself to others. Those who knew her were better for the experience, and she will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at La Vida Llena (Carter Hall) on Thursday, January 28, 2010, with Rev.
