Sally Scott Obituary

Sally Ann Scott, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2015 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 72. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 10th, 1943 to Glen and Delores Surface who preceded her in death. Sally graduated from William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs in 1961 where she met her future husband Donald Scott. Sally and Donald were married in February of 1962.

Sally spent the majority of her career working for the Air Force as a civil service employee where she would retire after 35 years. A tireless worker who never liked to remain idle, she continued to work in the mortgage industry after her retirement from civil service, spending the last six years with Peoples National Bank. Sally lived her life selflessly acting as a willing caregiver to many throughout her years. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, there was no burden too big that she could not bear to improve the lives of those around her.

Sally is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald; brother Vaughn (Audrey) Surface; son Stephen (Shannon) Scott; daughter Sherri Jiminez; and grandsons: Glen, Michael, and Nicholas Scott, and Timothy Jiminez; as well as several nieces, nephews and their families.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 28th at 11AM at Woodmen Valley Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs and a reception to follow.

Dear Scott Family, What a woman! I learned so much from Sally when we worked together in the headquarters building on Peterson AFB years ago. She always greeted everyone with a smile and a willingness to help. Can't believe she's gone. Fly high, Sally. You did good. Miss you.

Dear Scott Family, I was pained to hear Sally's no longer with us. Sally helped me learn the concept of "Leading from the back of the pack." In other words, one didn't have to be labeled a supervisor to show leadership traits. Sally is THE person who helped me get my AF career (and life) on track when I worked for her at Peterson AFB from 1983 to 1985. I always proclaim that Sally is one of the two most influential people in my life, as that experience remains the best environment I have ever worked in! I cherish the fond memories I have of Sally. It pains me to not have had the opportunity to express the profound impact she had in my life. You are all in my heart and prayers.

We loved Sally, as well as Don for many years. We have many fond memories shared during or after the National Bowling tournaments. Atlantis City was one of the fondest. We will miss her but take peace in knowing where she is now lovingly awaiting Don's arrival. RIP
