Sandra Kae Sheets Brown

Sandra Brown Obituary

Sandra Kae Sheets Brown May 1, 1948 - September 12, 2007. Sandra Kae Brown died at home September 12, 2007, under the gentle care of her husband, brother and sister in law and Pikes Peak Hospice. Kae was loved deeply by all who knew her for her upbeat tenacious spirit and her outgoing personality. During her illness when asked how she was, she often replied "Terrific!". She never met a stranger – from the grocery store and pharmacy employees at King Soopers, to the bus drivers and passengers on the city bus system. Kae was born May 1, 1948, in Montrose, Colorado to her parents Robert B. and Marie Sheets. She attended school in Downey, California and met and married her husband, Dan on August 20, 1977. They recently celebrated their 30th Wedding anniversary. Kae will live on in the hearts and minds of her surviving family – her husband Dan Brown, her mother Marie Sheets (Newport Beach, California), brother and sister-in-law Bob and Colette Sheets (Colorado Springs, Colorado), sister and brother-in-law Jacque and Stan Huffman (Carlsbad, California), and brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Terri Brown (Virginia Beach, Virginia). Kae had a special fondness for nephews and nieces Rob and Michele Sheets, Andrea and Mike Bostick, Chris and Julie Sheets, Eric Huffman, and Brad and Tara Huffman. Kae's passion was the volunteer work she did for the Humane Society for which she was presented several Outstanding Volunteer plaques and awards for the many hours she spent at the shelter. She rode the bus as much as four hours to spend two hours caring for the cats. She truly loved animals, especially her own dog Elway and cat Snowball. She never forgot an anniversary or birthday and her mailing list numbered nearly 100. In lieu of flowers, Kae's family encourages donations be made in her name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. A memorial celebration of Kae's life will be held Monday, September 17, 2007, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors at 4:00 PM.
