Sandra was born on November 29, 1966, in Torrance, California, to Paul Howard and Edria Lee (Bennett) Shuey. Her brother, David Allan Shuey, is currently living in Chicago, Illinois. She was a 1984 graduate of Oregon City High School. They were blessed with three beautiful and talented children, Jonathan Paul, Shelby Nicole, and Emily Jane.

She loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and knew that the Bible and the Book of Mormon testified of Jesus Christ. A woman of great faith, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After college graduation she worked as a freelance editor, and proofreader. She also worked for Century 21 All West, Inc. After 22 years staying home with her children she started working part time at Penzeys Spices and most recently as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and received the greatest honor as Legacy Unit Miss Go-Give. She served in the PTA as the Colorado PTA Membership Director and Secretary, Treasurer, and Editor of the newsletter for the Trailblazer Elementary PTA. She was involved in the Boy Scouts of America as advancement chair and was a proud parent of an Eagle Scout. She enjoyed scorekeeping for two years for her son's high school lacrosse team and was her children's cheerleader in all their sports. She served as organist for her church when she was 14 and has continued to share her talent as pianist and organist over the years.

She loved to hike, road bike, mountain bike, ski, 4-wheeling with the Jeep, camping in the Rocky Mountains and playing tennis with her family. She enjoyed working on her family history, scrapbooking and playing the piano. In her last year of life, she took up quilting, which resulted in an elaborate quilt for her daughters finished by close friends in her last days. She was very organized and loved reading outdoor books and maps. She liked trying new recipes and using as many spices as possible. She loved taking care of her poodle Holly for 9 years and Ivy for the past 3 years.

Preceded in death were her grandparents, Howard and Mildren (Gordon) Shuey and Clarence and Ara (Godwin) Bennett, Aunt Sally Jo Felt, and mother-in-law Janice Griffith.
