Sandra Murray Obituary

Sandra I. Henning Murray, age 57, of Wesleyville, passed away peacefully, at home, on Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born in Erie on July 29, 1956, daughter of James Henning of Lawrence Park, and the late Velma "Peggy" Smith Raun.

Sandy was a 1974 graduate of Iroquois High School and attended Erie County Vo-Tech. She was employed for the last 24 years at Lawrence Park Golf Club; she was the owner of Sandtee's restaurant at Downing Golf Course.

A caring and respectful person, she was always quick with a comeback remark. Sandy's smile and youthful love of life made her a favorite of nieces and nephews. She was an avid mystery reader and gardener, and enjoyed golf (which she reminded Gary she beat him once), knitting and most water sports. She especially loved snorkeling with turtles in Mexico. Sandy was a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a member of the Sportsmen's Athletic Club. To Sandy's dearest friends, she will always be a part of who they are and forever in each other's hearts.

Besides her father, Sandy is survived by her husband, Gary P. Murray; brothers, Greg (DeeDee) Henning, Brian Henning, Sr., David Henning, Mark (Mary Ann) Henning, Tim (Michelle) Henning; sisters, Kellie (Lamar) Roberts, Nancy (Scott) Pierson, Pam (Jeff) Franklin; two aunts, Marvis (Robert) Neubauer and Nancy (Jack) Hauck; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her mother, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert Farley; a sister-in-law, Kim Henning; and stepbrother, Jim Raun, Jr.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Raymond Hahn. Interment will be in Mary, Queen of Peace. Contributions may be made to the Presque Isle Partnership, 1 Peninsula Drive, PO Box 8510, Erie, PA 16505, or the VNA Hospice, 2253 W. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506. To send condolences, visit www.dusckasfuneralhome.com.

Gary, If I searched the world, I could never have found a better friend than Sandy. She was the perfect example of loving and caring and compassion and concern. Just talking to her made me feel better, and being with Sandy reminded me of the most important things in life. Knowing that I had a friend like Sandy, is a gift to me of friendship wrapped up in love! In remembrance of 41+ years with my bestie, I love you and thank you Sandy!

I worked with Sandy at Toy World in 1977. A friend of mine which was our manager at that time (Linda Wurst) and I just talked about Sandy a month ago. I was on Facebook trying to find her so Linda and I could reunite with her. Linda called me and told me the news. Sandy was so fun to work with, she always made us laugh. All these years later and I recently told my son how I craved oranges when I was pregnant. I was working at Toy world and Sandy was going to visit someone in Florida. I said bring me back some oranges and laughed. Sure enough she brought those oranges back to me from Florida. Even though we didn't stay in contact all these years she will always be remembered by me every time I see oranges.
When God puts someone that touched your life in your mind, pursue that journey on finding that person. I wish I had.....
God Bless to the family,
Cheri Marks

May you see God's light on the path ahead, when the road you walk is dark. May you always hear, even in your hour of sorrow, the gentle singing of the lark. When times are hard may hardness never turn you heart to stone. May you always remember when the shadows fall, you do not walk alone.
