Sarah Pugh Obituary

Sarah Carolyn "Lynn" Pugh, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 with her family at her side. She was born to Helen Tastet Davis and Lloyd Wood Davis on September 15, 1932 in Washington, D.C. She attended schools in Washington, D.C., graduating from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1950. She attended the University of Maryland where she met her husband, Charlie. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Lynn married Charles E. Pugh in Washington, D.C. on June 19, 1954. Together they raised three daughters. Lynn traveled around the world, following her husband's 28 year long Air Force career. Each new location became "home" because Lynn made it that way. After twenty-three moves, they returned and settled in Colorado Springs in 1982. She was an antique buff and loved to add to her collection through her many travels. She was a part owner of the antique store, The Gossip Bench, and she was a co-founder of the Powderhouse Prospector's Quester's group. Lynn also became the recorder of the family genealogy and collected family memorabilia. Her hobbies included cross stitch, thimble collecting and playing cards with her card group. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Col. Charles E. Pugh, USAF (Ret.); her daughters: Sarah (husband, Gary) Walton of Butte, Montana; Karen (husband, LtCol Regis, USAF, (Ret.)) Hancock of Seattle, Washington; Patty (husband, Jay) Adamson of West Chester, Pennsylvania; her sisters: Mel Hughes; Jean (husband, Jim) Lewis; her brother, David (wife Louise) Hughes all of North Carolina; and her grandchildren: Charlie and Katie Walton; Stephanie and Hilary Hancock; and Matthew and Eddie Kirk. Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Helen T. Hughes; and her brother, Wilson Davis. Although life presented many good times and some difficult challenges, Lynn always met them with grace and a smile. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Pauline Chapel, 2 Park Avenue, with a reception following services at St. Paul's Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, 9 El Pomar Road. Committal services will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Memorial contributions in Lynn's name may be made to the Penrose Foundation, 961 East Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903; or the Arthritis Foundation, 2280 South Albion Street, Denver, Colorado 80222.

Our prayers are with all of you. We will always remember the time we spent together in Oslo, Norway and the memories our children had of the Oslo American School. It seems like just yesterday we all went to Garmisch together. God bless you. Pat and Mick Daley and family. (Ed, Dan, Rosemary & Mary Anne)
