Scott Miller Obituary

Scott Miller, a lifelong resident of Manitou Springs died on Thanksgiving Day after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. He was fifty years old. Scott loved technology. He was among the first people on the planet to have a personal computer in his home, and he always had the latest wireless phone, the most advanced video game systems, digital stereos and TV's. In a wheelchair since birth due to cerebral palsy, he was able through his mastery of electronic media, first ham and CB radio and then the internet, to reach out to people throughout the United States and in many other countries. His walls were covered with the plaques and mementos they sent to him. He faced death with grace and dignity. When his doctor told him that his cancer had spread throughout his body, and that he had only days, even hours, left to live, he said that he was prepared to die, firm in his faith in his Savior Jesus Christ. He held the hands of those closest to him as they sat vigil around his final bed, and before he slipped from consciousness, he made his amends, he told them all how important they had been to him, and how much he loved them. Scott is survived by his loving sister and brother, Pam Junker of Monument and Dale Miller of Fall Brook California, aunts Rosie Miller and Beverly Miller and uncle Chuck Miller, all of Colorado Springs, nieces Kristin and Lindsey, nephew Tim, scores of Miller cousins, his cat Gandalf (who has a wonderful new home), and by all those around the country and the world who saw through his frail body to the strong and beautiful spirit within. A memorial potluck will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, December 8th. Call 481-6934 for information.

I am deeply saddened. Scott was always a good friend to me from way back when we met in Jr. High School. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with his family. Words can not express the loss I feel. Peace be with you all and Gods speed in healing your hurting hearts.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, Scott will be greatly missed. Scott suffered with disabilities his whole life but we can look forward to God's promise at Isaiah 35:5,6 when "the lame one will climb up just as a stag does". May you relish the day when, as promised, Scott will be able to run about and leap as a stag.
