Selma Halseide Obituary

Selma Price Halseide couldn't wait to join Elias, her husband of 63 years, in Heaven. On June 7, Selma got her wish. Born in Bishop, Ok, in 1922, she grew up on a farm with three siblings: Louis, Wyoma, and Lennis. A gifted storyteller, Selma has long entertained listeners with amusing stories about milking cows and life during the Dust Bowl.

After high school, Selma attended Immanuel Missionary College in Colorado Springs and taught at the Immanuel School for seven years. She is remembered for disciplining with humor and love, a technique she later perfected as "Mom" and "Grandma."

Always eager to help others, Selma became a Practical Nurse in 1950, but put her career on hold to marry Elias and birth three children in four years: Philip, Sharon (Cooper) and Mark. To Selma, these busy years were her best.



As her children entered school, Selma returned to nursing at Penrose Hospital and Pikes Peak Manor Nursing Home. There she discovered another calling, that of caring for the elderly. She spent 15 years at the Visiting Nurse Association before operating an in-home patient care facility for seven years.

Spending time with family was Selma's favorite pastime. She loved to play games and rock babies. She is survived by her brother, Lennis Price; her children (listed above) and spouses (Michele Halseide, Wayne Cooper and Jeannie Halseide); seven nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren (Brandon, Blake and Brittney Halseide; Shannon (McRae) Rundio, Sean and Neil McRae; and, Grant and Katie Halseide); and four great-grandchildren (Brennan, Gabriel, Regan and Judah Rundio). Spouses of grandchildren include Dan Rundio, Olive McRae, Jill McRae and Stephanie Halseide.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive. Viewing is from 4 to 5p.m.
