SSG SETH A. WESTLAND
February 1, 1984 - May 23, 2018
SSG Seth A. Westland, 34, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed after a long battle with mental illness on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Memorial Service: 1:30 pm Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment with Military Honors: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Seth was born February 1, 1984, the son of Stephen Westland and Debra Westland-Graham, in Everett, Washington. His early years were spent in Snohomish, WA and then Selah, WA. He was a proficient swimmer that faired him well in the military.
He enlisted in the United States Army in May of 2003, and was serving his country at the time of his death. For fifteen years, Seth served as a Military Police Officer with additional identifiers as a member of a Drug Suppression Team, Military Police Investigator, Personal Security Detail, and Squad Leader. His duty stations included: Fort Bliss, Texas; Schweinfurt, Germany (overseas); Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Seth served in deployments to Afghanistan, Quatar, Africa, and Kuwait.
On November 18, 2009, he was married to Kim M. Anthony in Augusta, Georgia. Seth enjoyed working on vehicles, models, physical fitness, camping, fishing with his children and helping people find their smile. He attended the Korean Presbyterian Church of Huntsville, AL. More than anything, he loved spending time with his children. He would arrange special father-daughter dates, to ensure his little girls knew how they should be treated by a future gentleman caller. Seth will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son and an inspiring hero to all those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Kim M. Westland; three children, Kira M. Anthony, Kaida M. Anthony, and Stephen N. Westland; mother, Debra (Vern) Westland-Graham; father, Stephen (Sofie) Westland; sister, Autumn (Magnus) Johnsson; brother, Garth (Michelle) Westland; and in-laws, Brian and Mi-Sun Grimm; grandparents, extended in-laws, step-siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Seth.

My cousin Seth was our ringleader as kids, I had felt that he was my closest cousin. Neither of us seemed to like being in school much.. I very much looked up to him and wish that we had not grown apart.

Seth was literally the best of friends so much loved lost.. hope for the best for his girls he told me every time I talked to him about how much they ment to him I will always love and admire him as a friend and a part of our family
