Sevilla Walters Obituary

Sevilla "Ann" Walters, 92, of Colorado Springs died Saturday, October 29 after a long illness. Sevilla Ann (Mitchell) Walters was born on August 14, 1919 in Deemston, Pennsylvania to Alexander Craig and Clara (Rice) Mitchell, the fourth of six children. She married Robert I. Walters on August 21, 1941. Ann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling, road trips to the mountains, reading, working crossword puzzles and taking her first motorcycle ride at the age of 86. Ann was in a "no spin zone" before anyone knew who Bill O'Reilly was and she loved watching his show every evening. She rocked a pair of blue jeans and tennis shoes. When the doctors tried to put an expiration date on her life she left it in the rear view mirror. She loved to tell stories to her family and friends, made us laugh with her feisty personality, had a beautiful smile and warmed us with her hugs and kisses. The word "stranger" was not in her vocabulary. Ann lived her life with hope, courage, dignity and a wonderful sense of humor. Her faith in her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ proved her to be a warrior on earth and for the kingdom of God all with amazing grace. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Walters; by her parents: Alexander Craig and Clara (Rice) Mitchell; by her brothers: Thomas, Clark, Carl and Raymond Mitchell; and by her sister, Clara (Mitchell) Bell. Ann is survived by her children: Craig Walters, Susan Cunningham (husband, Barry), Debbie Slattery (husband, Joe), and Jeffrey Walters (wife, Wenda) all of Colorado Springs. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Evan, Matt (wife, Tara), Brian (wife, Angela), Jenni, Luke (wife, Amy), Gavin and Garrett; her great-grandchildren: Sarah, Courtney, Sam, Emily, Brendan, Allison, Zoe, Landon, Logan and a new little one with an expected arrival in November. Also surviving Ann are many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service and burial is planned for Monday, November 7, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I have fond memories of Ann when I was a teenager growing up and having Susan as my best friend. She was always a lot of fun and a caring and loving Mom. The best tribute to her life is the wonderful children and family that she loved very much. When you look at her children you will see Ann in them. God Bless all of you. GLenda Suit

Aunt Ann, what a wonderful, long life you led - and became the last of your Mitchell siblings. You left here on earth a family who love and miss you so. I will always remember your beautiful blue eyes, the jaunting way your head tilted to the side as you were greeting me and others. Your laugh was so warm and welcoming and you reminded me of your mother, Grandma Mitchell, especially as you got older. I can imagine that there's been one Saturday night-like happy Mitchell gathering in the sky going on, much like I remember, as a little girl. Lots of family, you and Uncle Bob, my parents, and other aunts and uncles, getting together to play cards and share Isaly's chipped ham and ketchup sandwiches at Uncle Clark's house in Washington. Something tells me it's been reenacted in heaven! Much love to you - welcome home. God bless you and yours, forever.
