Jean Adamson Obituary

Jean William
Adamson
Jan. 5, 1926 ~ Oct. 27, 2014
Jean William Adamson was born January 5, 1926, in Park City, Utah. When asked about his childhood, Jean responded, "All I know is, I grew up in a good time." He loved his life with parents, Ephraim and Zina Adamson and siblings Lee, Jack, Margaret, Phyllis, Ella and Bobby. Jean loved adventure and sports, and made the all-state football team both his Jr. and Sr. years. Jean lost his father when he was 16, and he and his siblings rallied together and around their mom to keep the family going.
Jean joined the Navy just before graduating from Park City High and went on to officer school. He attended both Northern Arizona University and the University of Utah and continued playing football as well. Jean graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1948. That same year he met his future wife, Marion Laver, at a Salt Lake City hot spot, the Coconut Grove Ballroom. Jean followed Marion out to San Francisco and was hired by the local utility, P.G. & E. Jean and Marion married July 17, 1954. Jean was a successful engineer and manager at P.G. & E. He was promoted often and eventually retired as Vice President of a subsidiary, P.G.T.
Jean became a proud father on December 18, 1957, with the birth of their daughter, Patti. With the adoption of their son Mike, born May 6, 1965, their family was complete. Jean was an amazing father. He was loving, fun, and full of wisdom. He was concerned about the well-being of his children and grandchildren right up until the end.
Marion passed away February 6, 1996. Jean remarried in 1998 and spent his retirement helping his wife Bonnie in her final years as well as the rest of his extended family.
Everyone loved being with Grandpa. Just as he watched over us in life, he is watching over his family now. Thank you for being our Dad and Grandpa, Jean. We love and miss you.
Jean is survived by his children, Patti (Tom) Hatton, Michael (Callie) Adamson; grandchildren, Cameron, Alexandra, Quinten, Tanner, Easton, Nicholas (Rachel), Emily (Robert), Jessica (Blair), Amanda and great-grandchildren, Hazel and Brody.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11am in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, (10600 S.) Sandy, with viewings Thursday, October 30 from 6-8pm and Saturday from 9:30-10:45am. Interment in the Park City Cemetery. He lived a beautiful life!

I always enjoyed Uncle Jean and he will be missed! He had that big Adamson grin and laugh (as did all of the siblings...) and was just an outstanding individual. May the family feel the Lord's peace and comfort during this time. Love to all.
