Sharon Griffith Obituary

SHARON DIANNE GRIFFITH
March 9, 1947 December 13, 2020
Sharon Dianne Griffith, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2020 after complications from a brief illness. Sharon was born in Cleveland, OH to Lambert and Helen Taylor, who then moved the family to Portland, OR where Sharon and her only brother Richard grew up. She attended Hudsons Bay High School where she was an excellent student and state champion tennis player. It was on a Youth for Christ singing tour across the United States during the summer of 1964 that Sharon met and later married her husband, Larry Griffith. After attending Washington State University together they were married and immediately joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, where they were involved in campus ministry on the campuses of UCLA and Montana State University. After believing they were being called into pastoral ministry, they returned to Portland for seminary training. Over the next 15 years Sharon served with Larry as a pastors wife in 3 local church ministries in Richland, WA, Arvada, CO and San Diego, CA. They came back to Colorado Springs with their four children in 1994 where Sharon worked as a chiropractic assistant and real estate agent. They have resided here for the last 26 years. Sharon is survived by Larry, her husband of 53 years, 3 of 4 children, Matthew Griffith, Heather Griffith and Jennifer Griffith, as well as 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Sharon will be remembered as a woman of faith, a loyal and loving wife, and an unconditional loving mother and Nana to her children and grandchildren. Sharon was a stranger to no one. Those who were privileged to know her were blessed by her gracious hospitality, her kind and gentle spirit and her willingness to give beyond measure. She made anyone who she met or came into her presence the most important, and loved person in the world. No matter your background, your beliefs or your situation in life, you were loved and accepted for who you are. She loved to serve, to cook and bake, to garden her flower beds, to take long walks, to vacation at Cannon Beach, OR, to create with her hands through sewing, crafts, and home decorating. She will be greatly missed by her husband, children and grandchildren, as well as the many who were touched by her godly influence.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at a later date due to the circumstances of COVID. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care of Colorado Springs.

We enjoyed 4 years with Sharon involved with Campus Crusade, as well as many years after visiting each other over the years. Sharon was a joy to know and be with. We will miss her welcoming smile and gentle spirit. She was a faithful daughter of the King.

Larry
We are sorry for your loss. Jennie and I were just recently reflecting on the impact you and Sharon had on our lives as new believers at Montana State University. You guys had a big impact on the route we chose in walking with the Lord.

Judy and I enjoyed our time with Sharon. What a great representative of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I know she is with Jesus now, as is Judy. They are waiting for us, Larry. That thought makes me more heaven-hungry. Chris Blackmore
