Sharon Hamann Obituary

Sharon M. Hamann, age 59, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1973, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2006. Sherry was born on December 6, 1946 in Peoria, IL to Edward and Edna Hickey. She graduated from Richwoods Community HS and Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Nursing. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. After losing her first-born son, Todd, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), she began a campaign to educate people about SIDS and worked with families struggling with their loss. Sherry was extremely proud of her work as a public heath nurse and as a Licensed Professional School Nurse with District 11. She had a passion for nursing and helping others, especially children. As an active member of First Presbyterian Church, she lovingly volunteered her time for both church functions and community events. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. Sherry is survived by her two sons: Justen (wife, Mykil) Hamann of Castle Rock, CO and Jason Hamann of Mesa, Arizona; her sister Linda (husband, Tom) Vef of Jeffersonville, IN; and her brother Don (wife, Nadine) of Wataga, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5th at the Shrine of Remembrance 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard in Colorado Springs. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St. Colorado Springs. Memorials may be made to the Colorado SIDS Program, 425 S Cherry St, Ste 890 Denver, CO 80246, or the Brain Injury Association of Colorado, 4200 W Conejos Place #524 Denver, CO 80204.

I had the pleasure of taking care of this wonderful and caring woman for 4 years. It was always a pleasure to see her and she always brightened my day. We at Family Healthcare Associates are saddened to lose such a wonderful lady but are happy that she is no longer in pain and we know that she is in a wonderful place looking over us all.

Sherry was a part of our group in high school and we had wonderful times together. She was so vivacious and so much fun to be with. I would like her family to know how sorry I am for their loss.
