Funeral services for Sheila Mae Kinner, 68, will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Michael Dennis of the Christian Church in Gillette, WY. Inurnment will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery near Greenland, Douglas County, CO. She died Monday, June 26,2006 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming of cancer. Sheila was born September 18, 1937 in Two Buttes, CO., the daughter of John D. Franklin and Bertha Beatrice (Adams) Kilpatrick. She was reared and educated in Colorado and graduated from high school. She was a homemaker first. She loved music and encouraged her children to learn to play and sing. Sheila took care of many children in her home, when her own were younger. She then worked for a number of years as a dental assistant. In 1977, Sheila opened a fabric store and sold sewing machines, running this business until her death. A favorite pastime was camping with her family and friends, spending as much as two weeks each summer in the Big Horn Mountains. Sheila spent many years as a Girl Scout leader in Gillette, and Camp Director at the Story youth camp. She loved sewing and often sewed matching dresses for the girls for Easter and other holidays. She made quilts, and each grandson got a quilt for graduation, and the granddaughters got a sewing machine. The granddaughters spent part of their summers at Grandma's house learning to sew. Sheila always encouraged her children and others to do their very best and was OK with their best, but pushed them to do a little better until their true best was accomplished. She truly loved her children and would do anything for them. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 32 in Glenrock, WY. Sheila is survived by her husband, Jerry Kinner, of Douglas; children: Cheryl K. Benedict and husband, Richard of Gillette, Wyoming, Pamela S. Kinner of Denver, CO., Lori A. Boeding and husband, Walter of Gillette, Daniel L. Kinner and wife, JanNell of Gillette, and Scott A. Kinner of Gillette; siblings: Ira L. Kilpatrick and wife, Anne of Poulsbo, WA. and Juanita J. Aldridge of Longmont, CO; sisters-in-law: Alice Kilpatrick of Mesa, AZ, Elba Kilpatrick of Mount Dora, FL, and Martha Wisner and husband Roy of California; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial to the American Cancer Society in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O.Box 689, Douglas, WY.82633 would be appreciated by the family. Gorman Funeral Homes Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
