Shelby Lee Bullock, 72, passed away in Portland OR on Thursday, November 22, 2018 after a battle with cancer. She was born July 17, 1946 in Tuxedo, New York. She graduated from Suffern High School in 1964 and was voted best looking in her class. She graduated from Syracuse University and was part of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. One summer during college in Nantucket she met the love of her life Robert Sheridan Bullock. They were married June 29, 1968 in Williamsport, PA.
Shelby then took a job at General Electric in Albany New York as an advertising designer. Years later they moved to Southington, CT where together they had two children; Kimberly Ann and Robert Conrad. Not long after on December 12, 1985 cancer took her husband of 17 years. Her faith in God and her inner strength allowed her to keep going strong.
In 1986,she met a man named John Hobson. They traveled together and enjoyed going to concerts, hiking and taking on projects. In 1991 they moved the family across country to Colorado Springs, CO, where Shelby has resided ever since. She attended Wilson UMC where she served faithfully and had a special group of friends that were her "4th row" church friends. She also enjoyed her book club buddies and her workout group friends.
Shelby exuded a strength that many can't fathom. Her generous heart, tender spirit and most of all the smile that lit up the room will always be impressed on the hearts of many. Those left to continue her legacy are her two children, Kimberly Ann Olson of Portland, OR and Robert Bullock of Colorado Springs, CO, her six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Matthew Tyler and Ashley Olson and Taven and Robbie Bullock. Additionally her brothers Randy Conrad and David Conrad, both of which are in NewYork.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 19 at 1PM at Wilson United Methodist Church. 6460 Flying W Ranch Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church.
