Sherilyn Sperry Obituary

Sherilyn Staples Sperry died at the age of 49 on March 30th, 2012. Sherilyn was born in Charleston, SC and was adopted by James Staples and Charlese Fischer. The Staples family, along with sister Tamara Staples of Brookyn, NY, grew up in the Baptist church as Mr. Staples was a Southern Baptist Minister of Music. Sherilyn was a concert violinist in her earlier years but it was her dedication to Christ that led Sherilyn into a lifelong desire to help others. It was after a multifaceted career as a travel agent, in hotel management, and selling high end jewelry that she found her calling by helping young women find adoptions for their unwanted pregnancies. Sherilyn not only helped these women, but anyone around her who happened to need it, including animals. She is survived by husband Kyle Sperry (Colorado Springs), mother Charlese Fischer (Cayce, SC), brother Bailey Staples (Webb City, MO), sister Tamara Staples (Brooklyn, NY), brother Richard Masters (Greenwood, SC), sister Debra Masters (Greenwood, SC), step-sister Maryanne Ross (Bunnell, FL), several cats and 3 dogs. Sherilyn is preceded in death by her father James Staples and stepmother Pat Staples (Colorado Springs). A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4050 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, CO 80917. Sherilyn was deeply loved and cherished by her family and the many friends she had throughout her life. In honor of Sherilyn and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Springs Rescue Mission, 5 W. Las Vegas St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Sherilyn was a very special friend. I knew this the day she said in her greeting card, " I promise to be your friend for ever!" .... we experienced this friendship for over eleven years and enjoyed many good times. I will miss my special freind for ever.

Sherilyn's family,
Death is very tragic and devastating and leaves you with overwhelming emotions. "May the Lord of peace himself give you peace constantly in everyway." (2 Thessalonias 3;6 )
may the memories you have of Sherilyn ease your pain.

Sherilyn's help and advice was instrumental in our adoption of our oldest daughter, Elodie. I remember her saying that she always told everyone that her name was like Marilyn only with an "Sh," and Elodie could tell everyone that her name was like Melodie only without the "M." We will miss her and her love for the lost and lonely in life.
