Shirley Clark Obituary

Long time Colorado Springs resident Shirley Clark passed away peacefully March 22nd under Odyssey Hospice Care. She died of natural causes with her surviving daughter and son at her side. She was born Shirley Marie Martinson in Conrad, Montana to Anton and Ingrid Martinson. Upon graduation from Conrad High School, Shirley enlisted in the Army. She served from 1955-57 which included detached duty at ENT Air Force Base as a secretary. She fell in love with Colorado Springs and spent most of her years there, raising her 3 children with her husband Gene Clark. Shirley returned to Montana for a few years in the 70s to be near her family. After her divorce in 1978, she went to work as a nurse's aid at Pondera Valley Nursing Home, and later worked in several Colorado Springs hotels. Shirley spent the last the three years living happily at Winslow Court Assisted Living center. Shirley is survived by son Kevin Clark and his common law wife Deborah Lane, daughter Christine and her husband Charles “Leroy� Sonntag, Son-in-law David Sears, Grandson; Robert Provost, Granddaughters Nickolina Provost, Sonya Provost, Sarah Vehanen and Llora Clark; Great-Grandsons David Provost and Adekai Vehanen; Great-Granddaughter Eva Rodriguez; Siblings Elmo Martinson, Arthur Martinson, Charmaine Omholt, Beverly Dahl, Connie Fretheim, Curtis Martinson, and David Martinson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Sears and Great-Granddaughter Carlye Rose Provost. Shirley will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday March 29th at 1:15 PM with full military honors through All Veterans Funereal Services. A memorial service will be held at Winslow Court on Monday, April 5th at 2:30 PM.
