Shirley and I were friends since our teenage years. After retiring we traveled with our husbands and a group of friends around the country in our rvs. In Later years we had fun in the red hat sisterhood and We also shared many happy years in a Az resort community. A long and eventful lifelong friendship with her was a gift I will always cherish

My parents owned the Pine Valley Dairy, near the Carlton House, which is now part of the Air Force Academy. My sisters, Joann and Marlene, and I knew Shirley all of our lives. I also worked near Shirley at NORAD/ADC/Space Command for 37 years. Shirley once told us that her mom always fixed her hair when the milkman (our dad, Joe Potts) was coming because she had a crush on him! Shirley told me another unforgettable story that happened to her at work when she was in her 20's: She went out to lunch with some Colonels and a visiting General. In the car on the way back, the driver turned
north and Shirley asked, "Aren't we going back to work?" "No, we're going to a motel," replied one of the Colonels. "Listen here," yelled Shirley, "I'm not that kind of girl!!" "Calm down, Shirley, we're just going to drop General Jones off at his room." We laughed about this for years. We all knew Don and his love of the Range Riders. Many memories, and our sympathy to all of Shirley's family. Carol Potts Todd (age 85) and Marlene Potts Clayton (age 89)
