Shirley was a Colorado Springs, CO resident for 41 ½ years. Shirley was born on May 27,1935 in Zook Spur, IA to Edgar Carl DeVan and Lucille Bradford DeVan. In 1938, the DeVan family moved to Walsenburg, CO where Shirley was raised. After high school, Shirley joined the US Army and served 3 years and was a SP3 at Fort Sam Houston, TX. While in the Army she met the love of her life, Bill Moore Jr. They were married June 6, 1956 and had a blessed union of 52 years. Shirley continued her military service through being a Decorated Civil Servant with Top Secret Security Clearance. She worked for 35 years both at Fitzsimmons Army Base and Peterson AFB. Then she retired from Peterson AFB in 1996. Shirley loved being with family, enjoyed watching her church ministries, listened to music, playing piano, playing board games, reading and puzzle books. Shirley passed away of natural causes on Monday, February 7, 2022. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Melody A. Smith of Colorado Springs, daughter Marva L. Mackins (Christopher) of Colorado Springs, granddaughter Michiayla N. Smith of Charlotte, NC, grandson Sean C. Mackins of Colorado Springs, CO, sister Lena B. Hill of Aurora, CO, brother Ernest H. DeVan, of Denver, CO and granddaughter Shanna Lovato of Colorado Springs, CO. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley is preceded in death by spouse Bill Moore Jr., grandson Michael E. Smith Jr., Father Edar C. DeVan, Mother Lucille B. DeVan, brother Everette C. DeVan, sister Lucille Murrell, brother Homer O. DeVan and sister Jane A. Davis. Shirley's Celebration of Life will be on Thursday February 17,2022 at Angelus Chapel 1104 S. Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. The viewing is from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, her service will follow from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The reception is at Angelus Chapel from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Graveside burial will be Friday, February 18,2022 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO at 10:15 AM.
