Shirley was born in Colorado Springs to Lloyd and Ruth Cole, she had one brother Don. She spent most of her childhood there in schools and married in 1952 to Robert Pearson, together they had 3 children, Michelle, Ryan and Ricky. She had many different jobs which included the phone company, child care and opened her own daycare center in 1963. Later she worked at Ampex and in 1968 the family moved to Silverthorne Co. for the construction of Eisenhower tunnel. They lived there till 1977 and moved to Meeker Co. for a time and then to Leadville Co. where she went back to school and got her associates degree. They divorced in 1980 and at that time she moved to the western slope and spent time in Montrose, Olathe, Delta, Cedaredge and Grand Junction where she went to work for Mesa Developmental Services and worked there till she retired in 2000. At that time she moved back to the Springs to be with her aging parents. Shirley moved in with her daughter in 2009 and together they moved to Canon City in 2020. Shirley suffered with Alzheimers for the past 10 years and in March was taken to Hospice House in Pueblo where her struggle ended. Shirley is survived by her brother Donald Cole of Colorado Springs, her daughter Michelle Burk of Canon City, her sons Ryan and Ricky Pearson both of Canon City, grandaughters Jessi Pearson Pongratz, (Joe) of Cottage Grove Or., Thierny Pearson of Cedaredge Co. and Meghan Burk Armijo (Juan) of Colorado Springs, great grandson Jaden and great grandaughters Genesee, Norrie, Florence, Jessi, and Summer. She was special! Fun and silly and loved animals and had many through her life, She loved crafts and always had a project that she was working on till Alzheimers took over. She will be greatly missed and in our hearts forever. There will be a service to celebrate Shirley in Canon City on Fri. May 19th at 1:00 at the Steeple Event Center at 701 Macon Ave. with a reception to follow.
