Silvia Schmidt Obituary

Silvia Schmidt, 76 of Colorado Springs, died August 9, 2015 at Mesa Vista Nursing Home in Boulder.

A Celebration of Silvia's life will be held Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1128 E. Boulder St., Colorado Springs.

Silvia was a devoted mother of three daughters, one son, and grandmother to three girls.

She was born in Germany and grew up in a Lutheran Boarding School from the age of 7. In her 20's Silvia met Bill Schmidt and they married. They later moved to the U.S. to start a family.

Silvia enjoyed helping people. She was a nurse in Germany, and in the US she worked in a nursing home, became a Realtor, and later went back to her nursing roots to become a Registered Nurse at Penrose Hospital.

Silvia had a zest for life! She was passionate about nature and the outdoors. She loved to go for hikes with friends, family, or her dog Schnitzel. She was incredibly creative and artistic; she enjoyed painting, pottery, jewelry making, stained glass, cooking, sewing/knitting, and gardening.

Silvia was an inspiration to her children, and instilled a strong sense of strength, determination, and values. She was a very classy lady and will be missed dearly by her family.

She was a long-time member and volunteer of the Jeanne Taylor Parkinson's Support Group.

Silvia is survived by one son; Martin Schmidt of Lafayette, CO, three daughters; Tina Schmidt of Saginaw, MI, Diana Schmidt of Grand Junction, CO, and Tanya (Nemanja) Peshovich of Beaverton, OR, and three grandchildren, Alix Apsey of Saginaw, MI, Emilia Peshovich of Beaverton, OR, and Ava Peshovich of Beaverton, OR.
