Slater Phillips Obituary

Slater was born April 4th 1927 to Shober and Kiter Phillips in Wilkes County, N. C. After joining the Air Force he met and married Darlene A. Ruebke on July 28th, 1962. Slater had a distinguished career in the Air Force that spanned 24 years. 14 years of his career was as a personal aid to General Robert M. Lee and later part of General Goodpasters flight crew in Belgium. Upon returning to the states he retired from the Air Force and spent the next 15 years with School District 11 in Colorado Springs. Slater loved fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all that loved him. Slater is survived by his wife of 48 years Darlene, daughters; Deanna Livingston, Kimberlee Phillips, Michelle Schlack, son in law Robert Schlack, sister Fern Davis, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Slater was preceeded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Memorial Gardens, February 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to National Mill Dog Rescue c/o 13030 Herring Road, Black Forest, CO 80908. Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, CO.

Dear Dee and Family - My loving wishes to you at this sad time. I wish I could be at the Memorial Gardens with you on Tuesday. You will certainly be in my prayers for comfort and sweet memories as you celebrate Uncle Slater's life. He was a man of sweet heart and will be missed by all of us. Love, Marie
