Stanford Liebowitz Obituary

June 27, 193-March 26, 2006. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Stanford (Stan) Charles Liebowitz, age 72, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1960, passed away on March 26, 2006 after a courageous battle with Emphysema. Stan was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 27, 1933 to Irving and Gertrude (Cohen) Liebowitz. Upon his graduation from high school, h entered the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 23 years, retired with the rank of Chief master Sergeant. As a highly decorated Air Force Veteran, Stan exemplified dedication and service to his country. While stationed at Brize-Norton Air Force Base in England, Stan met the love of his life, Cynthia Margaret Nutt, in May 1953, and they married August 2, 1954. Stan was an avid handyman who also enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, playing cards, and following the USAFA Falcon and Denver Bronco football teams. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Liebowitz; his daughters: Lee-Ann (husband, Richard) Dubois and Lisa (husband, John) Gifford; his sons: Steven J. (wife, Jennifer) Liebowitz and Gary D. (wife, Marti) Liebowitz; his grandchildren: Christy (husband, Bobby) Sorden, Kendra Liebowitz, Kim Dubois, Mitchell Gifford, Bailey Gifford and Sarah Liebowitz; and his great-granddaughter: Taylin Sorden. He is also survived by his brother: David (wife, Carole) Liebowitz and his sister: Phyllis Limperopolos. Private family memorial services were held. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 5600 Greenwood Plaza Boulevard, Suite 100, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111 or to the Disabled American Veterans, 3754 East LaSalle, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
