Stanley Smith Obituary

June 29, 1937-Nov. 4, 2007 Stanley F. Smith was born June 29, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. Preceding him in death are his Father, Glenn Frederick Smith, Mother, Geraldine Wilmer Smith, and Stepmother, Hilda Benson Smith. Stan joined the Air Force at the age of 17 retiring as a Master Sergeant. He loved the Air Force and was proud of his service for his country. He was on the IG team and really enjoyed pulling "surprise visits". Stan's second career was with Joy-Denver Manufacturing Company. A Service Engineer initially, he retired as Manager of the Parts and Service Department. As recently as June of 2007, he had done consultant work for a Uranium mine in Blanding, Utah. He loved being a volunteer at the U.S. Air Force Academy in the Community Center pharmacy and the Emergency Room where he touched the lives of the people he worked with in many ways. He was a 32-degree Mason of the General Henry H. Arnold Lodge of Rosamond, California, and the American Legion in Palmer Lake, Colorado. Stan was an "amenable" guy with a head filled with important and trivial knowledge. Ask him what kind of plane was flying overhead, and he could give you the type, manufacturer, and what service or war it was utilized in. Stan always wanted but never owned a Model A Ford. He loved all types of vehicles, and could tear down and rebuild them with "lightening" speed. He disliked all of the computerized equipment on modern cars. Stan LOVED his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his favorite chapter in the New Testament was always Ephesians 4. Stan LOVED all of his family and he would go visit them in places such as Ascension Island, Germany, or any place where an air base was found. Stan LOVED his wife of 52 years, Roberta Fisher Smith. After they both retired, they traveled everywhere together! For their 50th wedding anniversary, they took a caravan trip in their 5th wheel to Alaska for a wet but wonderful trip including Stan successfully catching Codfish. Stan's children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by; His wife Roberta, Daughter's, Deana Halat and Amy Hill (Stephen), Son, Robert Stanley Smith, Brother Glenn James Smith (Sunny), grandchildren Katherine and Aaron Hill, Amy Halat, Caitlin and Jonathon Smith, Niece, Kacy Rufener and Nephew, Kelly Smith. Stan's life was good. He is going ahead to check out heaven and will be waiting for us with open arms. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., Mountain View Church of Christ, 1080 E. LaSalle, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California 95326

Never hard to watch someone gain the reward they worked so diligently for. I'll meet you on that beautiful shore, Stan.
It's been a blessing to have he and his family in our lives.
