Stephen Graff Obituary

Stephen Francis (Daley) Graff, born September 7, 1929 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Coronel Harriet E. Gerry; RN war nurse and Francis John Daly under President Hoover as the Head of FBI, close friend, attorney and body guard to Howard Huges, and A Navy officer.

Stephen expired February 27, 2016 at 6:37 am at Memorial Central Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He lived a full life as a paratrooper and gunner, nick-named Dead-eye, with Ranger Training in the 511th Air Corp in WWII, then honorably discharged. He was an Olympic Shooting Coach to Gold Medal winner, Lani Mielie in Barcelona, Spain; the body guard for Joan Kroc, owner of the Padres Baseball Team and the McDonald Corporation. He was an active lifetime member of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Associate, and Non Commissioners Organization Association.

Stephen was a private and commercially licensed pilot for several years, big-game hunter in the State of New York and Adirondack, New York. He was a Wild Game Reservationist under Brian Bergen. He also worked on Cricket II as one who caught and killed large Sharks off of Montauk Point with Frank Mundus years ago. He also was an under-cover police officer for Governor Ella Tambussi Grasso of Connecticut State.

His wife, Cherry M. Ambrose, PsyD, survives him after 12 and a half years after being a close friend and caregiver to the end in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

His friends and family knew him as the "Golden Heart Warrior", always being helpful, as an advisor to teens and others around him. He was a retiree from General Dynamics.

Although he enjoyed studying State and Federal Law, he never took the Bar Exam due to his ADHD and High Anxiety Disorder due to wartime trauma. He fought hard for what was right and fair all his life of 86 years.
