January 27, 2022

Steven Rand Covalt, affectionately known as Steve, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully with his wife, Annanette, and daughter, Kimberly, by his side on January 27, 2022. He was 70 years old.

Steve was born on June 16, 1951 to Marvin and Jeanie Covalt in Dodge City, Kansas.

He married his high school sweetheart, Annanette, on December 18, 1971.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science at Emporia State University and graduated with honors in 1973 before moving to Colorado Springs with his wife and beginning to build his career. In 1982, he opened his own tax and accounting practice.

He was licensed and a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he received designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) from American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and was a member of the Front Range Business Valuation Study Group.

Steve was actively involved in his church, an avid golfer, loved being in nature, and treasured time with his family and friends.

While successful in his business pursuits, his dedication toward his family was his primary joy. From coaching his children's many sports teams as they grew up to committing time to making memories and supporting them in their own pursuits, Steve was a family man at heart.

Steve will be known for his integrity, kindness, generosity, and humor.

Steve is survived by his wife, Annanette Covalt; and his two children, Kimberly (Daniel) Pellegrino and Brian (Katie); along with his sister, Laura Griffith. He made memories with and was an amazing "Papa" to his five grandchildren.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Covalt; mother, Jeanie Covalt; and brother, Theodore Covalt.

Steve holds a special memory for me. He helped me get started in Colorado Springs after moving from California. I always respected his opinion in the family law area as a fellow CPA and a Christian friend. He will be missed and my sincere sympathies to Annanette and the family. He is with our Lord !!
